Bred Cow 1901 is a Registered 75% South Poll 5-year-old cow.  She is a granddaughter of the famed Broadway (on her sire side) and a granddaughter of a Greg Judy South Poll cow (on her dam's side).  Cow 1901 was the first calf born in our 2019 calf crop, hence her number:  "19" for the year she was born and "01" for the first calf born.  She is a fertile cow and always has one of the first calves born each year.  This year, it was the very first!  So far, she has always had heifer calves.  She was artificially inseminated on 3/23/24 with female sexed semen (Sexed Ultra 4M) from our Fullblood South Poll Bull 6400 (Reg # 37362).  On April 9th, she, along with the rest of our herd, was turned in with our Fullblood South Poll bulls.  We never saw indications of her being in heat after that initial insemination and believe that the artificial insemination was likely successful.  We didn't confirm the artificial insemination with an early pregnancy test because we were planning on keeping her.  Prior to registering her calf, you will need to DNA test the calf to confirm the sire.  A heifer calf will be a Purebred South Poll heifer.  Should she have been bred naturally by one of our bulls and the the calf turns out to be a bull calf, it will be a 7/8ths South Poll bull.  Cow 1901 currently weighs approximately 980 lbs.  She weaned her 2024 calf on August 25th.

Cow 1901 was born on our ranch.  She is exclusively grass-fed, eating grasses such as coastal bermuda and behia and cover crops along with hay in the-off season and quality minerals.  She has been rotationally grazed behind a single strand of hotwire.  She, like all cattle in our herd, has tested negative for BVD PI.  She is a nice cow and has lasted through our initial phase-outs of our percentage South Poll cattle.  She (and her future calf) will make a nice start or addition to a South Poll herd.
