Cow 2157 "Dolly" is a Registered 50% South Poll cow that was born on our ranch.  She is a red cow with a white face and "mascara" around her eyes.  She is so pretty that we affectionately named her "Dolly."  Dolly, like her dam, is a lead cow.  If you are looking for a cow to help you get your rotational grazing going, she will help lead the cows to the next pasture.  She has been serving as the "babysitting" cow for our first calf heifers training them to be good mamas and to rotationally graze.  You would think that heifers that rotationally grazed all their lives on while nursing their dams would know how the system works, but when you wean them and put them in a group, we have found that a "babysitter" cow works well to calm them and keep them rotationally grazing.  That has been Dolly's job.  

Dolly's dam is an 11 year-old tiger stripe from our grass-fed herd prior to converting to South Polls.  Her dam is still on our ranch because she is a lead cow, continues to have a calf every year, throws beautiful fertile heifers, and is a great show-piece to demonstrate the difference in size between a "conventional" cow and our 1000 lbs. South Poll cows.  Dolly is for sale because, while we keep her mama for demonstration purposes, we are phasing out our percentage South Polls as we transition to an exclusively purebred and fullblood herd.  Dolly's younger sister, Heifer 2420, is lot # 5 in this sale.  We really like the crosses between our tiger stripe cow and our South Poll bulls.  While the tiger stripe dam weighs 1400 lbs, being half South Poll, Dolly weighs approximately 1030 lbs.  Dolly calved as a 2 year old and as a 3 year old.  She has not been exposed to a bull since she last calved and is ready to breed.  She is selling with her 6-month-old steer calf (born 10/07/2024).  This pair is available because we are transitioning to all Pure and Fullblood South Polls.

This pair is exclusively grass-fed, eating grasses such as coastal bermuda and behia and cover crops along with hay in the-off season and quality minerals.  They have been rotationally grazed behind a single strand of hotwire.  They have tested negative for BVD PI.
